The Resource Environmental Center in Albania (REC Albania) is seeking applications from qualified legal experts to support the project “Environmental Justice in Albania (EJA),” funded by the European Union.
Project Overview:
The EJA project aims to enhance access to environmental justice in Albania by improving legal and judicial capacities, and increasing public participation. One of the project’s key objectives is to conduct a comprehensive diagnostic assessment titled ‘Cap and Gap Series: The Green Justice and Grey Crime in Albania,’ examining the justice trajectory concerning environmental abuse through the lenses of police, prosecution, court systems, and the role of media.
Scope of Work:
The selected legal expert will be responsible for defining the scope of work needed for carrying out the diagnostic assessment mentioned above. This includes:
- Establishing the scope of the work
- Defining assessment timeframes
- Setting criteria for investigation
- Selecting regions for a nationally representative study
- Outlining suggested methodologies and sources to be consulted for developing the examination related to the police, prosecution, and court systems.
The expert’s framework will be used by REC Albania to further develop the investigation and collect data on the responses made by relevant institutions to environmental harms.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Interested applicants should possess strong legal expertise in environmental law, criminal law, and judicial processes, particularly in the context of Albania and the EU framework. Proven experience in research methodologies, analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and adaptability are essential.
